William Roscoe "Jim" Mills

Williamsport, MD – William Roscoe “Jim” Mills, 86, of Williamsport, MD passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at his home.

He was born on December 29, 1936, in Williamsport, MD to the late Victor David and Della (Wolfe) Mills.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia “Pat” Mills in 2021.  He met his wife Pat while working at Springfield Farms in the 1950’s.

He attended Williamsport Schools throughout his life.

Jim was employed by Grove Manufacturing until his retirement in 1998. After working for 33 years at Grove, he went back to work in the Cafeteria at Springfield Middle School in Williamsport, MD and even worked for the Town of Williamsport.

Jim enjoyed walking and riding his bike through Williamsport and on the C&O Canal and talking to residents of the town.  Some even referred to him as Mayor Mills.

He enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankee fan.

He is survived by his daughter Cynthia Shanholtz and her husband Issac of Williamsport, MD; son William Mills and his wife Hollie of Laurel, DE; son James Mills and his wife Sandy of Hagerstown, MD; son Dennis Mills and fiancee’ Dianne Shroyer of Keedysville, MD; sister Marie Crilly of Williamsport, MD; brother Edwin Mills and his wife Wilda of Chambersburg, PA; brother Lloyd Mills and his wife Becky of Waynesboro, PA; brother Joe Mills and his wife Joyce of Frederick, MD; his very special caregivers Cynthia Shanholtz and Heather Mills; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.

Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by numerous brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 11:00 am with Rev. Bill McPherson, Sr. officiating.  The burial will be private.

The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service on Tuesday from 10:00 – 11:00 am.
