Clear Spring, MD – Zachary Paul “Zack” Reid, 32, of Clear Spring, MD passed away on Monday December 5, 2022.

 

Zack was born in Hagerstown, MD on July 18, 1990, to Michael L. Reid and Angela L. (Jones) Stoneberger.

 

He was a 2008 graduate of Clear Spring High School.  He was also a graduate of the Washington County Fire & Rescue Academy.  He attended the University of Maryland Fire & Rescue Institute.

 

Zack was currently employed by the City of Hagerstown as a fire apparatus operator stationed at First Hose Company Engine 1 in Downtown Hagerstown, MD. He received the Medal of Valor in 2018 for the rescue of a child from a burning apartment fire. He also worked part-time at Williamsport Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company 2 and was a part-time driver for his Uncle Eric at Reliable Towing.

 

He was a dairy farmer at Belz Farm while attending High School and after graduating. He also worked for Clear Spring Ambulance Company 49 after graduating.

 

Zack started in the fire service in the Junior Program at Maugansville Goodwill Volunteer Fire Company 13.  After the junior program he joined the Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Company 4 in 2006.  He was the only person in history to serve in all 8 operational positions at Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Company 4 and was currently serving his second year as Fire Chief.

 

Zack was a current Hobby Stock Driver of the 1S car at Hagerstown and Winchester Speedways.

 

His daughters were his world, and he loved his family.  Zack was very proud of his mustache.

 

He is survived by his wife Taylor Reid whom he married on July 21, 2017; father Michael L. Reid and his wife Donna K.; mother Angela L. Stoneberger and her husband Tony P.; daughter Carolina Hazel Jo Reid; daughter Oakley Virginia Rose Reid; daughter Layne Eleanor Ivy Reid; his dog Buck; sister Tara Thompson and her husband Dave and their children Allison, Rebecca, David, and Caitlyn; brother Brandon Reid and his wife Krystal and their son Cash; stepbrother Cody Hunter; stepsister Gretchen Stull and her husband Nick and their sons Nolan and Grayson; stepsister Morgan McDonald and her son Owen; in laws Darla and Vic Ditto; sister in law Tawny Ditto; paternal grandparents Maurice and Geraldine Reid; maternal grandparents Cecil (Buzz), Jr. and Jean Jones; special Uncle Eric Reid and his daughters Brittany and Bethany Reid; Uncle Kurt Reid and his wife Penny; Uncle Brad Jones and his wife Nita.

 

He was predeceased by his Uncle Sonny; sister-in-law Dawn; childhood friend Carman.

 

The family will receive friends at the Rehoboth United Methodist Church 16829 Lappans Rd. Williamsport, MD on Monday, December 12, 2022, from 9:00 am – 1:00 -pm. 

 

Funeral services will be held at Rehoboth United Methodist Church 16829 Lappans Rd. Williamsport, MD on Monday, December 12, 2022, at 1:00 pm with Pastor Leon Powell and Chaplain Bob Fraley officiating.  Interment will be in Shanktown Cemetery in Big Pool, MD.
