Williamsport, MD – Florence E. “Sis” McCauley, 102, went home to be with our Lord on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Twin Oaks Assisted Living in Williamsport, MD, surrounded by family members.

 

She was born on January 7, 1915 in Williamsport, MD to the late Alvey Sylvester and Hattie Elizabeth Rice Harsh.

 

She retired from Williamsport Elementary School where she worked in the cafeteria.  She loved being around children!

 

She was a lifetime member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church.  She was very active helping where needed.

 

She enjoyed playing bingo and bowling at Southside Bowl where she celebrated her 95th birthday.  She also won an award at the celebration of Women in Sports in 2008.  She was an ardent Baltimore Orioles baseball fan.  She cheered for them while watching TV and really enjoyed the games when her granddaughter took her to Camden Yards.  She loved sharing special meals with her family members including Christmas brunches, Easter dinners and her birthday favorite, chicken and waffles.

 

She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Samuel L. McCauley and daughter, Rayetta, who passed on June 29, 2016.

 

She is survived by six children, four daughters, Amy Myers of Hagerstown, Joan Miller of Hagerstown, Barb Jacob of Maugansville, Wanda Wheeler and husband Mike of Hedgesville, WV, two sons, Samuel Earl McCauley and wife Brenda of Orange, VA and Walter McCauley and wife Joyce of Hagerstown.

 

She has 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and numerous step grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 11:00 am with Pastor Steve Wagoner officiating.  The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 am.  Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Williamsport, MD.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County 747 Northern Avenue Hagerstown, MD 21742 or Humane Society of Washington County 13011 Maugansville Rd. Hagerstown, MD 21740.
