Hagerstown, MD – Mary Virginia Cauffman, 86, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Monday, October 31, 2016 at Meritus Medical Center Hagerstown, MD.

 

She was born on January 13, 1930 in Williamsport, MD to the late Samuel Merle Hoffman and Florence Viola Crist Hoffman Potts.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, John William Cauffman on January 26, 2010.

 

She was a graduate of Williamsport High School Williamsport, MD.

 

She was a Homemaker.

 

She was of the Brethren Faith.

 

Mary was a member of AARP.

 

She enjoyed time with her family.  She was a mother not only to her children but also her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

Mary is survived by her son John Owen Cauffman and his wife Brenda of Boonsboro, MD; son Ronald W. Cauffman and his wife Christine of Hagerstown, MD; son David Merle Cauffman and his wife Debbie of Boonsboro, MD; her loving companion her dog “Ginger”;half brother Charles Potts of Pinesburg, MD; half brother W. Daniel Potts of Falling Waters, WV; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; numerous step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and step great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

 

The family would like to show their appreciation to Mary's grandson David "Dee" Cauffman for helping to take care of things around her house.

 

She was predeceased by her brother Theodore “Teddy” Hoffman; half sisters Florence Potts Hughes and Suzanne Potts Martin and half brother Thomas Potts.

 

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Wednesday for the convenience of family and friends.

 

Graveside services will be private and at the convenience of the family at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park Hagerstown, MD.
